Oteil Burbridge is known to a lot of music lovers as
the bass player for either the Allman Brothers or the
Aquarium Rescue Unit, which he helped create. He is
also the frontman for his own Oteil Burbridge and the
Peacemakers.
The latter group will perform Saturday night at Ross's
Landing as part of the Riverfront Nights series presented
by Friends of the Festival.
The free concerts take place on the Fat Cat Ferry Stage
next to the Chattanooga Pier.
Burbridge joined the Allman Brothers Band in 1997.
One of his early outside projects was with Frogwings,
a supergroup of sorts that included Butch Trucks and
Marc Quinones of the Allman Brothers on drums and percussion,
respectively, and guitar players Derek Trucks and Jimmy
Herring. Edwin McCain sang and played guitar, and John
Herbert played the keyboards in the group. John Popper
and Burbridge's older brother, Kofi, also played with
the group at one point.
Burbridge formed Oteil and the Peacemakers in 2000
and released the single "Love of a Lifetime" that same
year. Their self-titled debut came out in 2002, and
"The Family Secret" followed in 2003.
The band records and tours when the Allman Brothers
are not on the road, creating their own fan base over
the years.
